Bawal magnakaw ng basura ng may basura, o bawal kuhanin ang basura ng may basura. Ibig sabihin, kung ikaw ay isang bakal-bote boy, wala ka ng silbi; o kung ikaw ay nabubuhay dahil sa nakukuhang mga tira-tira sa basurahan, maghanap ka na ng ibang pagkakabuhayan. Dahil kapag ako ang namuno sa Pilipinas, ipagbabawal ko to.

Ang mga pwede lang kumuha ng basura ay yung mga licensed na basurero, na nakasakay sa licensed na garbage trucks, na hindi mukhang mga basta-bastang dump trucks. Maganda sana kung maipatupad ng talagang-talaga, as in talagang-talaga sa bawat sulok ng bansa, ang segragation scheme. At maganda sana kung maipatupad sa bansa ang bawal magkalat, as in talagang-talaga na bawal talaga kahit candy wrapper lang o kahit ang pagdura, para lalong mapanatili ang kalinisan at kaayusan. At maganda sana kung may mga fixed na lugar na kung saan matatagpuan ang mga basurahan. At ang mga licensed na basurero lang mismo ang pwedeng kumuha ng mga basura.

Ang mga magiging basurero ay magkakaron ng iba’t-ibang benefits tulad ng health benefit, life insurance, at kung anu-ano pa. Maaari ring mag-apply ang mga dukha bilang basurero, para sila ay makatulong sa ikabubuti ng bayan at para din magkaroon sila ng kabuhayan. Pero nararapat na magkakaroon sila ng “bonds” o kakailanganin nila magtrabaho sa loob ng ilang taon under service at hindi pwedeng umaklas; isang solusyon para makaiwas at makababawas sa mga squatter.

Ang mga basura, na dapat ay segregated na, ay dadalin sa isang facility na magrerecycle ng ibang basura na pwede pang magamit ulit. Hindi basta-basta itatambak nalang ang basura sa isang dump site. Sinegregate mo nga ang basura, pagsasama-samahin naman ito sa iisang dump site. Para san pa ang pag-segregate?

Sa facility na to, irerecycle ang mga pwede pang magamit ulit, tulad ng mga papel, bote, plastic at mga organic na basura. Ang mga papel ay pwedeng gawing recycled na papel at gamitin ulit sa paggawa ng mga notebook na maaaring gamitin sa mga eskwelahan. Ang mga organic na material naman ay pwedeng gamitin panggawa ng mga fertilizer. In short, imbis na itambak lang ang basura, ay gagawan ng paraan para magamit ulit ito as a resource.

Are malls against piracy?

If film piracy (or any kind of piracy for this matter) is illegal, then why does the Optical Media Board (previously known as Videogram Regulatory Board) allow malls to sell pirated stuff?

Libre newspapers should not be printed in volumes

Libre newspapers should not be printed in volumes since most of these only contribute to litter. In MRT stations, specifically, most of the newspapers that fall on the floor are ignored by people. Inquirer should produce lesser quantities of Libre newspapers compared to what is currently produced.

Trees are cut down to produce papers and yet papers are only thrown away afterwards. Even if Libre newspapers are produced using recycled materials, it’s still a waste of resource to produce huge volumes of newspaper when most of these are just thrown away.

Vendors, street performers, beggars = Licenses

In Canada, vendors and street performers are required to have licenses before they can vend or perform on the streets for money. Why couldn’t it be implemented here as well?

If vendors, street performers and beggars were required to have licenses before they can vend, perform or even beg on the streets for money, the streets would’ve been cleaner or even just a bit less messier. If that would be the case, if I ruled the Philippines, I would only approve certain request for licensure under certain circumstances, such as but not limited to:

Vendors have undergone quality control and quality assurance for their goods
Vendors can assure me that they would keep their environment clean, otherwise, have their licenses stripped away from them
Vendors are not selling illegal stuff
Street performers are not working for syndicates (they will undergo thorough background checks)
Beggars are really beggars (they will undergo thorough background checks)
Every one is not a minor and not an elderly

Sidewalks used as private parking spaces

I would like to address the issue of parking on sidewalks of our village in this letter. As we all would notice, parking on sidewalks is very rampant in our village even though most homeowners have garages in their houses. The roads in our village is already narrow and people still tend to park on sidewalks for their personal satisfaction. I have even seen some extremes wherein cars are parked on corners of intersections and some wherein both sides of the roads have been used as parkings (double-parking). Not only do they contribute to cramping up the roads, but these cars also destroy the sidewalks as sidewalks are for people and they aren’t really meant to be parked on.

It should be a rule that cars and/or other modes of transportation such as vans, trucks, jeepneys, etc should not be allowed to use sidewalks as personal parking spaces, especially if homeowners have garages in their homes. There should be a penalty fee or fine for those who violate this rule and still use sidewalks as personal parking spaces. Special exemptions only apply on some circumstances such as when a homeowner has a visitor who has an automobile as well, or when the chapel is holding a mass, and any other valid circumstances.

Houses who do not have garages are not exempted though. Why? First off, why, in the first place, would somebody buy an automobile if he/she does not have any place to park it aside from a valid public or private parking space?

Added minor details to the inked version of the lineart and did some color tests. The first is based on the “Essen” color scheme. The second test is based on the Deleter color scheme. The last is a darker variety of the Deleter color scheme.

Inked digitally in Photoshop and will later color when I finally figure what palette to use. Everything is done using pen tool. Yes, this is fully vectored, which makes it easier for me to change colors per color group (boots, gauntlets, etc). I’ve tried using Illustrator but I couldn’t quite get the same quality I wanted so I stuck with using Photoshop.

Occasional/Seasonal Security

Why is it always only when things blow up that the security in places, such as but not limited to the MRT and other malls, become strict? Why can’t security be always strict? I know it’s such a hassle for security guards to inspect every pocket of your bag but seriously, it’s a lot more comforting to know that you’re safe. And by the word “inspecting”, I meant, “really inspecting” and not just sticking their magical sticks inside your bag as if they could detect bombs or any other harmful objects.

Today, I (finally) found myself in this, yet again, situation as I took the MRT to work some time before noon. I experienced a very long and slow-moving queue and when I reached the top of the stairs, the security guards were intently inspecting every pocket of every bag of every passenger who wished to board the train. I don’t have any problems with that, except that this was only done occasionally and especially when things go bad and when events pose a grave threat to the public safety. Why can’t security be always serious about checking people’s belongings before they let them board the train (or before they enter malls, in other cases), at the same time, giving less hassle to these people?

Quoted from my earlier post, here are two (2) suggestions I would like to raise regarding the bag inspections in MRT stations:

I hate it when the guards “inspect” the bags. Do they really inspect the bags with their magical all-seeing wands, which they put inside our bags briefly without even looking hard enough? I know it would be a hassle to the lot of people queued up for the bag inspection if the guards would thoroughly inspect each of our the bags; but it would also be a risk to the lot of people if some genius of a terrorist found a way to cheat the bag inspection, which I know how to do. Good thing I’m just a genius and not the other.

SUGGESTION #7: Invest on the x-ray machines we see on airports and use these in MRT stations.

SUGGESTION #8: Move the inspection from the top of the stairs before the platform entrances to the start of the stairs before the stations. Why? Because if I were a genius of a terrorist, I would deploy a bomb somewhere near the MRT station without having to go through the inspection.

These suggestions are also applicable to security in mall areas and/or buses and other public transportations. How so, in buses? Easy! That’s why the government should strictly implement bus stops/waiting sheds and fixed ticketing stations that are watched over by security guards, who will inspect every bag of every passenger who will enter and leave the bus.
